The Cayman Islands offers some of the greatest scuba diving and snorkeling in the world. Grand Cayman, alone has nearly
120 dive sites, with Little Cayman and Cayman Brac offering another 40 dive sites. There is a dive site for all levels of scuba
divers, ranging from deep, sheer walls filled with colorful sponges, corals and fans; to shallow reefs that are abundant with
schools of fish, eels, turtles, invertebrates and much more; or an array of ship wrecks in varying shapes, sizes and depths of
water. Grand Cayman also offers a 12 foot dive - the legendary Stingray City. Most are accessed by boat but some may be
accessed by the shore as well. Do your kids want to get a taste of scuba diving? Many of the dive operations offer the SASY
Pack (Supplied Air Snorkeling for Youth) or for ages 8-12 the PADI Bubblemaker and Scuba Rangers programs are available.
These are a great way to introduce the spectacular underwater world that us scuba divers have come to love.
The Cayman Islands-Scuba Diving
Whether you are a novice diver or a dive master all you will need is just one
visit to see just why the Cayman Islands have some of the best diving in the
world. Not only are the water temps near 80 degrees year round and the
visibility is almost always 100 ft or better, but there are an abundance of full
service dive operations on each of the 3 islands: 40 on Grand Cayman, 5 on
Little Cayman and 3 on Cayman Brac as well as live-aboard dive boats. You
will find shops that offer rentals and repair services, photography equipment
and services, Nitrox and advanced dive instruction. The Cayman Islands are
very committed to safety and marine conservation. Divers must provide their
c-card for proof of certification. There is a 2-man double locking
recompression chamber located at the George Town Hospital on Grand
Cayman. To assist in preserving the Cayman Marine life moorings must be
used- no anchoring is allowed.
Another great reason to vacation in the Cayman's is that it's easy to get to. Many of the major US
gateways offer direct flights to and from Grand Cayman. Then with the short hop to the Sister Islands
makes for simple accessibility to all three islands. No need to spend exhausting hours of travel when you
could be enjoying the pristine beaches of your selected resort.
